Real estate traineeships last a maximum of 24 months and require the employer and trainee to sign a training contract through an Australian Apprenticeship Centre.

The mandatory educational requirement for registration with the Office of Fair Trading is included as part of the Certificate IV traineeships provided by the REIQ.
