| Commentary | As the population in Southeast Queensland continues to swell and the demand for vacant land increases, suburbs such as Maudsland - which have previously been considered as predominantly rural - are facing increased urbanisation. Located around 25kms from Surfers Paradise in the Brisbane-Gold Coast growth corridor, Maudsland is in close proximity to the Pacific Motorway and Helensvale railway station. Maudsland is home to the master-planned Parklands Residential Oasis, which boasts Australia's largest residential playground covering 3.5 hectares of open space. The expanding development offers a range of services and amenities suited to young families. A number of excellent primary and secondary schools are located in surrounding suburbs, including a number of newer schools which have established in recent years to accommodate increasing demand in the area. There are a range of shopping options close by including the Pacific Pines Shopping Centre and Westfield Helensvale Town Centre, which was completed in October 2005. Despite increased development, the elevated mountain views and natural bushland environment of Maudsland seem set to remain. The Gold Coast City Council has purchased 54 hectares of surrounding bushland in an effort to preserve local environmental values. Source: REIQ |
