Most homes were constructed of brick and tile in the 1980s. New development has been taking place in Shailer Park with the Kimberly Plateau and Kimberley Courtyards both popular estates named after the nearly Kimberley Forest Park. New apartments can also be found in the area. A large number of families of all ages are attracted the suburb by its mixture of residential and rural areas. One of the area's most spectacular features is the Cornubia nature reserve, located in the nearby suburb of Cornubia. The waterlily-covered lagoon was once a quarry but the area has regenerated over time and is now home to a variety of wildlife, ranging from larger mammals such as koalas and wallabies, to water birds and smaller aquatic life. Native ducks often feed amongst the waterlilies. There are eight primary and secondary schools in the area with a variety of sporting clubs, including Cable Ski World Logan, also nearby. The Logan Hyperdome is the retail centre, and a major employer, for the area and is located alongside the Pacific Motorway. Source: REIQ |
