| Location | 3.5km north of Brisbane CBD. |
| Features | Royal Brisbane Hospital, Ballymore Park |
| Commentary | Just over three kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and home to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Ballymore Park, Herston has maintained its popularity with buyers over the last five years. The trend toward inner city living has resulted in a demand for housing in the area and, in turn, an increase in the number of higher density unit and townhouse complexes, although there is still a high proportion of older styles homes in the suburb. Popular with health professionals for its easy access to hospitals, Herston is bordered by Spring Hill, Bowen Hills, Wilston and Kelvin Grove. These suburbs, along with the city centre, Lutwyche and Newmarket, provide Herston residents with major supermarket and retail shopping facilities as well as public and private schools. Quite a few students also live in Herston, with the University of Queensland Medical School located alongside the hospital, and the Queensland University of Technology Kelvin Grove campus also nearby. Rasey Park along Enoggera Creek has bike and walkways for residents, while Downey Park is also nearby in Wilston. Victoria Park is also a popular spot for picnic and the occasional round of golf. Although Herston does not have a train station (the closest is Bowen Hills), regular bus routes into and out of the city centre and to major shopping centres in the area ensure that the daily commute is made easier.
